It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved cousin Buck, a loving son, loving brother, and loving friend. Buck was a gifted musician, singer and songwriter. He performed with many Atlanta bands over the years, playing and recording his own music while supporting others in their own musical pursuits. Buck had a unique ability to move people with his music and often shared it freely with his community in places like retirement homes and jam circles.
Born in Augusta, Georgia, Buck always had a curious mind and a creative soul. He spent his life seeking to better understand the world around him as well as the spiritual world beyond his understanding. Buck was a believer in the Lord Jesus. He faced his cancer diagnosis bravely, with grace, gratitude for others, and a sense of humor. He had a wonderful laugh.
Buck is survived by six cousins, Elizabeth “Bess” Buckley of White Plains New York, Virginia Reed of Woodbridge, Virginia, S.A. Henderson of Virginia, Walter Henderson of Herndon, Virginia, Roberta Henderson of Alexandria, Virginia, and Kebba Buckley Button of Phoenix, Arizona. He was predeceased in death by his parents William Byrd Buckley Sr. and Betty Mc Anally Buckley, and his sisters Margaret Buckley Sawyer and Lynn Catherine Buckley. He also leaves behind a wealth of friends, fellow musicians and fans.
Buck enjoyed spending time outdoors and took pride in the yard maintenance work he did throughout his life. He will be buried in a peaceful meadow at Honey Creek Woodlands in Conyers, Georgia on December 18, 2025 at 12:30pm. A Celebration of Life is being planned for April of 2026. Details will be provided at a later date.
Instead of sending flowers, support the Sympathy Store for planting trees. If sending flower, send natural wreaths.
