

Mr. William Thomas Lawler of Atlanta, passed away Saturday August 4, 2012. The son of Jesse Holder Lawler and Leslie Thomas Lawler, he was born in Atlanta July 8, 1940, and lived here all his life. He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father. Billy was graduated from Henry Grady High School in 1958, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Olgethorpe University. He always loved music, and studied piano, violin, cello and organ. He served as an organist for 42 years, playing at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Church of Our Saviour, where he was also choirmaster. He was, for ten years, assistant organist at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Billy is survived by his sister, Jane Lawler Hughes, and brother-in-law, Ross Brown Hughes, of Cumming, GA; niece, Linda Hughes Gonzales, of Cumming, GA; nephew, Jay Warren Hughes, of Gainesville, GA; and friend of lifetime, Helen Stanley, of Atlanta. The family will receive friends at Spring Hill from 1:00 p.m. To 2:00 p.m. Tuesday August 7, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Westview Cemetery, the Rev. Martha Forrest officiating. Family and friends will proceed to Westview Cemetery at 2:00p.m. Tuesday August 7, 2012 for interment. Online condolences may be made at hmpattersonspringhill.com
