Bert Washburn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose love for family and hard work defined his life. He met the love of his life, Etoile Washburn, through her father while working as a painter. Their bond grew strong, leading to a marriage that lasted 75 wonderful years.
Bert’s career was marked by dedication and perseverance. He spent five years as a Distribution Manager at The Gadsden Times before taking a position at Gulf States Steel, where he served as the head Sales Consultant for 43 years. After retiring, he embraced his passion for painting full-time, a craft he truly loved.
A man of humor, determination, and a knack for fixing anything that needed repairing, Bert was always keeping busy around the house, often with a joke or a grin. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the family home in Attalla alongside his late son, Ricky Washburn—a project he took great pride in. His warmth, wit, and unwavering love for his family will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
Special thanks to the outstanding team at ACG Hospice, especially Bridgett Poole, Madison Shield, Raven Lamkin, Matt Ross, Darlene Glenn, and Kelli Strine.
