

Billy received Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Economics and a Masters in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University. He taught Accounting and Economics at Jacksonville State, Gadsden State, Calhoun Community College, Wallace State, and Jefferson State. Billy retired from Redstone Arsenal as the Chief, Resource Management Office of the US Army Ordnance Missile and Munitions Center and School.
Billy was a life-long boxer, boxing with the Navy boxing team while he served his enlistment, and was on the 1956 US Olympic Boxing Team. Billy trained under Angelo Dundee, and was a boxing coach for many years. Most recently he served as a State Athletic Commissioner for boxing and martial arts.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Deering Martin and Dewey Martin, and brother Jack Martin.
Survivors include his wife Vicki Estes Martin, daughters, Kathy Martin (Nathan Peppers), Karla Martin Clark, Krystal Martin Parris, and honorary daughters Tracey Tennent Rowell and Kathy Tibbetts Spears, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem United Baptist Church Cemetery in Gallant, Alabama with the Reverends Shari Harrison and Jennie McBride officiating. The pallbearers are Joshua Bradshaw, Eddie Clark, Will Clark, Billy Parris, and Wesley Parris. Morgan Funeral Chapel in Attalla, Alabama is assisting the family with the arrangements.
