Danny Gaskey, age 68 of Southside, passed away Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, at home with his wife at his side. He is now with Jesus in Heaven, with no more pain or suffering. Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Bro. Kyle Cantrell will officiate.
Danny worked at various places in his lifetime. In his early years, he worked at Woodbrothers Grocery. His later jobs included Rainbow City Church of God, then on to Gadsden City High School, where he retired in 2021. During his last five years at Gadsden City High School he also worked for the Gadsden campus of Church of the Highlands. He always loved to tell others about Church of the Highlands and he had a love for southern gospel music.
Danny was a hard worker and made many lifelong friendships with those he worked with. He was funny and enjoyed talking with people. He loved cutting grass on his beloved John Deere and enjoyed helping his family and neighbors when in need. He received many compliments on his yard work over the years. Among many hobbies, Danny enjoyed hunting and fishing and liked to watch Alabama football.
Danny is preceded in death by parents, Leroy and Florence Gaskey; sisters, Louise Bowden, Patsy Gaskey, Barbara Pruitt, Martha Burks, Judy Gaskey, Rita Wilbanks. Brothers, Andy Gaskey, Randy Gaskey, Lanny Gaskey. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Gaskey; daughter, Alicia Gaskey; sister, Brenda Prater, and a host of nieces and nephews. Danny and his fur baby, Gus, had a special bond as well. Gus will miss his “Da Da,” as they were always together.
Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Harper and Dr. Bryan McGwier for their friendship and care through the years, Etowah Pulmonology, and also Amedisys Home Health and Hospice. Danny was also very appreciative to have neighbor Scott Wolfe handle his yard work during his illness.
Family will receive friends at Morgan Funeral Chapel Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. The family requests no flowers, please; however, should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Flow Church in support of their upcoming holiday giving initiative.
