David Eugene Baldwin

A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 625 Gilbert Ferry Rd. SE, Attalla, Alabama 35954, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial at Howelton Cemetery.

David Baldwin grew up in the country in Walnut Grove, Alabama on a farm with his parents where they gardened and raised livestock. When he wasn’t helping his parents work the farm, he enjoyed playing football. He played for West End high school until his knee injured. He then graduated from West End in 1971. Throughout David’s life, he shared many of his football stories with his family and friends with great excitement. For anyone that heard these stories would understand David’s love for college football, he would tell you that he was an SEC fan but Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) came first.

In 1973, David married Phyllis Tucker and they had two sons and eventually lived on his parents’ home place. David’s brother Buddy lived nearby and most weekends during the summer the family would be at Buddy's and Sandra's playing volleyball, swimming, and cooking out.

David worked throughout his life, starting early working in the garden, cutting hay, worked at the Steal Plant, Laying brick, and many other side jobs. He worked at Bowman Transportation until it closed and went to Tysons food. He made lifelong friendships and with David he always had stories to be told.

Tysons food is where David met his second chance at love. In 1999, David married Lucy Goins. Lucy had two daughters and a son that David loved as his own. They lived in Gadsden where they made precious memories with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

David’s greatest love is his family. He had many titles- son, brother, husband, father, uncle, pawpaw, cousin, and friend. For the ones that were fortunate to know him, know of his compassion and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed.

David was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bertha and Hoyt Baldwin; and Brother, Buddy Baldwin.

David is survived by his wife, Lucy Baldwin; sons, Robert (Felicia) Baldwin and Phillip (Stacey) Baldwin; step-daughters, April (Paul) Smith and Loretta (Alan) Richards; stepson, Brian (Amanda) Baker; grandchildren, Savannah Baldwin, Haley (Baye) DeFranco, Daniel (Bobbie) Baldwin, Autumn Baldwin, Zach Baldwin, and Jacob Baldwin; step-grandchildren, Sam (Trisha) Richards, Dakota (Cathy) Richards, Jacob (Reecie) Stiles, Josh Smith, Kaden Baker, Braden Baker, and Alexis Baker; great grandchildren, Raegan and Ayden Gibbs, Carter and Denver DeFranco; step great grandchildren, Zoe Praise, Samuel Jude, Cove Richards, Haden and Bella Baker, Paul, Nala, Nathan, Nolan, and Nicholas; brother, Billy Baldwin; sisters, Kathy Garrad and Sandra Baldwin; Step sister in law, Dian Goins.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Stiles.
