Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem United Baptist Church, Gallant, on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Reverends Wayne White, Joe Wise, Clay Spears and Kyle Rusk will officiate. Burial to follow in adjoining cemetery.

Rev. McClendon is survived by his wife, Melba Wood McClendon; children, Cindy & Roger Campbell, Steve & Donna McClendon, Beverly & Dwight Rusk, Tina & John Tow, and Doug & Grace Wood; grandchildren, Scott & Danielle Campbell, Michael & Kristi Campbell, Clint & Charlee Rusk, Kyle Rusk, Kelli & Ben Conard, Matthew McClendon, Trevor & Anna Tow, and Braxton Wood; great-grandchildren, Dakota & Autumn Campbell, Lola & Dela Campbell, and Nora Claire & Cole Rusk; sister, Annie Lee Cannon; sister-in-law, Eunice McClendon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McClendon; and daughter, Rita McClendon.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Donald loved farming and shared the abundance of his garden with family, friends and neighbors. He retired from Gulf States Steel after 42 years. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Donald was called to preach in 1965 and pastored several churches in the Wills Creek United Baptist Association.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Bethlehem United Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 10770 Gallant Road, Gallant, AL 35972.
