Ila Gwin

Ila Nolia Dean Gwin, "Granny to most," of Ashville, AL went to her Heavenly Home on August 15, 2025 at the age of 89. A visitation for Ila will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 625 Gilbert Ferry Rd SE, Attalla, AL 35954, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM. Interment to follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Attalla, AL. Services will be officiated by Bro. Porter Butram.

Ila is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James L. Gwin, grandsons; Patrick Epps and Charlie Gwin Jr, and and granddaughter, Charlene Gwin.

She is survived by her children; Charlie Melinda, Phyllis Epps, Debra (James) Massey, Lynette (Carl) Pike, and Lawanda (Terry) Coley, grandchildren; Misty (Jeremy) Page, Daniel Epps, Russell Deweese, and Cash Massey, great grandchildren; Rachel Epps and Murphy Page, sisters; Nellie Payne, Gail (Andy) Mattox, and Mary Jo Wilson, and brothers; Cecil (Della) Payne, and Albert (Julia) Easterwood.

Ila was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Page, Neal Payne, John Nichols, Keith Banks, Brian Bearden, Austin Jones, James Massey, and Carl Pike.

Honorary pallbearers are Mark Miller and Jimmy Banks.

The family would like to express their thanks to Gentiva Hospice and nurses Morgan Murphree, Halie and Ashley.
