

Funeral Service will be held at 4p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Attalla for J. Matthew “Matt” Patterson, 29, of Rainbow City, AL, who passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Rev. Jack Bearden and Rev. Lisa Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Matthew was born on March 18, 1992, in Gadsden, AL to Beverly and Keith Patterson. He attended Southside High School and was employed by T.S. Tech for five years. He was an avid collector of guns, cars, and tools. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to make people laugh. His greatest joy and proudest accomplishments in life was being a father to his precious son, Axton. He was a very devoted father and Axton could always be seen following his footsteps, no matter where he went.
Matthew was preceded in death by his uncle, Billy-Wayne Morris and grandfather, Joe Lee Patterson.
He is survived by his loving mother, Beverly Patterson; son, Axton Patterson; sisters, Melissa Taylor and Megan Lumpkin; nephews, Brayden Taylor, Brent Bellew, Jaxson Lumpkin, and Owen Taylor; grandmother, Martha Jones; father, Keith Patterson; girlfriend, Alexis Carter; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He will be greatly miss by his family.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brayden Taylor, Brent Bellew, Scott Majzel, and Andre Mckinney. Pallbearers will be Rodney Morris, Kenneth Morris, Tim Taylor, Jon Roundy, Brent Collier, Reese Lay, Brandon Betts, and John Thomas.
The family will accept friends from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel prior to the service.
