Jackie L. Henderson was born November 22, 1943 in Gadsden, Alabama and remained a lifelong resident of Etowah County. After graduating from Etowah High School and completing trade school, he married the love of his life, Doris Causey in 1962. In 1966 & 1967 he was awarded the state apprenticeship for HVAC/pipefitting. He taught plumbing & pipefitting for a number of years and worked in the HVAC industry for 50+ years which included starting his own business in 1985. Jackie received Christ as his personal Savior in August of 1969 and never wavered or compromised his belief in the Lord. While raising a family with strong Christian values, he was active in many aspects of church ministry throughout the years including serving as deacon, trustee, treasurer, bus captain and visitation director. Among the many ministry positions he held, Sunday school teacher was his favorite. He taught classes ranging from teens to senior adults for 50+ years. With a heart for teaching and a gift for understanding & relaying scripture to others, his number one goal was to glorify God and point to Jesus in all things. He is greatly loved and will be terribly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
