

Mr. Horton was a beloved husband to Judy S. Horton for 47 years, up to her passing in 2018. Mr. Horton honorably served in the United States Army for 3 years and 11 months. He was stationed in Korea, at the DMZ for 11 months. He took an Honorable Discharge in 1981, to care for family. He was a volunteer firemen in Attalla. James was Shop Foreman at Charles E. Watts, Inc. of Gadsden for over 20 years. He loved being “elbow deep” in a motor. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He truly had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone that knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, James Michael Horton (Renee) and Darrell Shane Horton (Loretta), his grandchildren, Katelyn, Cheyenne and James “JD” Horton, honorable grandchildren, Joshua Callahan and Christina Erwin (Dylan), a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy S. Alverson Horton, his parents, JW and Sue Kelley Horton, and his sister, Wanda Silvey Simpson.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Johnston, Robert Argo, Larry Brewer, Devin Brewer, Cody Allred and Cameron Horsley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darren Bailey, LJ Rosson and Lamar Rosson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 12:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
