Johnny Glenn Brewer Jr.

Johnny “Glenn” Brewer, Jr., 59, of Glencoe, died on December 25, 2023, in Gadsden, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Attalla. Bro. Rickey Hall and Bro. Lauil Thompson will officiate. Graveside service and interment to follow at Williams Southside Memorial Park. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing. Glenn was born in Gadsden, Alabama. He was the son of Johnny Glenn Brewer Sr. and Judith Diane Brewer. He grew up in Southside and attended Southside High School, graduating in 1982. He went on to attend Alabama Technical College and received a degree in Electrical Technology.

Glenn worked for Alabama Power for 38 years, which gave him the opportunity to help others when he could. He knew the importance of kindness and would go above and beyond to offer a hand to all in need. He attended Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School and loved working with the sound board. Glenn was a devout Christian and leader in his home. He was a great witness to his family and friends and led several of them to Christ. Glenn always wanted to help others. He especially enjoyed working on cars and eventually motorcycles. He was an avid motorcycle rider. He stressed the importance of safety and protection when talking about and/or riding motorcycles. Glenn also enjoyed being outside working in the yard, playing with the dogs, walking and running for miles. He had such a zeal for life. His strength, willpower and endurance to continue on with life was a testament to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Julie Brewer, who was his high school sweetheart since the 10th grade. They were married in June 1987 and raised a brilliant son, Johnny Glenn Brewer, III, who is just like his father and they couldn’t be more proud of him. Glenn is also survived by his wonderful father, Johnny Glenn Brewer, Sr. (Dianne); and his chosen son, Joey Rogers, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his amazing mother, Judith Diane Brewer, his grandparents, Hobart Andrew and Lala Mary Stansell and William Robert and Jessie Brewer.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Brewer, III, Joey Rogers, Rodney Cole, Alan Jones, Kerry Gowens, Mark Tow, David McCord and Paul Cromwell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Local Lineman and retirees of Alabama Power and the members of his Sunday School Class.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at UAB Hospital. The family will accept flowers, memorials to Southside Baptist Church or the Brain Cancer Center at UAB Hospital. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 29, from 11:00 - 1:00.
