Kenneth D. Childers Sr.

Kenneth Dewey Childers Sr., age 84, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on December 13, 2016 in Gadsden, Alabama. Mr. Childers was born in Eva, Alabama. He served in the US Air Force and spent 60 years working in the construction industry. His work accomplishments included the Raleigh-Durham American Airlines Terminal in North Carolina and the Federal Building renovation in Denver, Colorado. He enjoyed golfing, travelling and sailing with his wife and family. Mr. Childers was a member of the First Baptist Church in Attalla, Alabama.

Preceded in death by his parents, Eugie and Dewey Childers and brother Gerald Childers.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Chastain Childers; children, Mary Jane (Gary) Crouse of Vermont, Alice (Jamie) Strickland of Alabama, Ken (Mya Hamilton) Childers Jr. of California; grandchildren, Nikki and Katie Crouse; Maycie and Brooklynn Strickland; Ava, Drury and Wiley Childers; siblings, Helen McClendon, Arlon Childers, Jimmie Lee Childers, Judy Ann Posey; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday December 20, 2016, at 2pm at Morgan Funeral Chapel, Attalla with Rev. Earl Mitchell and Major George Price officiating. Visitation precedes at 1pm. Graveside service with military honors at Bethany Cemetery in Reece City.
