

Ken was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Mardant Hammond and step-father Pete Hammond.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Stephens; 3 children Gina Taylor (Craig), Stephanie Youngblood, Ken Stephens, Jr. (Gail)
9 grandchildren Rachel (Mike), Matthew Tortorici, Jr. (Gina), Jon Tortorici (Jill), Jordan Tortorici (Kayla), Xander Stephens, Zachary Stephens, Christopher Taylor (Jessie), Nick Hildebrandt, Madison Wenum
12 great grandchildren Natalie Maddox (Zack) Emma College, Ethan Phillips, Adrielle Tortorici, Karleigh Wright, Madalyn Hicks Tortorici, Piper Tortorici, Olivia Tortorici, Emily Tortorici, Isabella Tortorici, Raegan Taylor;Niece Lisa Silvey (Randy)
He leaves many other family members and friends who will greatly miss him.
Ken was known for his love of Christ and his love of people. If you met him once, you loved him and you were loved by him.
He was an excellent golfer who had multiple hole in ones. He loved working in his woodworking shop, working crossword puzzles, playing games with family and dear friends and working in his yard tending to his mini orchard. He was an avid traveler who loved the beach. He made the best pancakes, ever. He was a 3 time Corn Hole champion at his men's fellowship group with his late friend, Art.
He could often be found helping others. He volunteered with Angel Food Ministries. He often helped family and friends over the years with his natural gift of building and repairing.
He attended Snead College where he transferred to University of Alabama but left shortly to get home to his true love, Joyce.
He retired from Republic/ Gulf States Steel in 2000 at the age of 62 when the plant closed.
He then went on to attend Gadsden State Community College where he graduated with a degree in Marketing.
He obtained his real estate license after that. He told family he just wanted to pass the exam because he heard it was difficult and he was always up for a challenge.
His life will be celebrated with family and friends as follows:
Service will be Friday November 1, 2024 at Morgan Funeral Chapel, 625 Gilbert Ferry Road, SE, Attalla, Alabama 35954
