Lillian was born in Chicagoland of Russian immigrant parents in Maywood, Illinois there Lillian grew up and then attended and graduated East Proviso High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Richard Pilz, Sr. They married and had five children settling in Glen Ellyn and later Wheaton, Illinois. On November 3, 1971 Lillian accepted Jesus as her Savior after her husband had recently abandoned her. She claimed Psalm 68:5 “A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation” and always said “When your father moved out, Jesus walked in.” As Proverbs 3:28 says, “Her children arise up and call her blessed,” Lillian was an amazing mother and loved her children dearly. She worked from home as a dressmaker, worked as a secretary at MAP International, a non-profit organization that shipped medical supplies to missionaries and third-world countries, and then she worked as a Technical Librarian for 25 years at AT&T’s Lucent Technologies. Later she moved to Alabama in 2005 to live close to her daughter and her family. Through the years she loved serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, her church and her community. Lillian’s favorite Bible verse was Philippians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.” She truly lived and died by that verse. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, a joy to all who met her, and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vasil Romaneck, and Alexandria and John Lowecki, Sr.; brothers, George Romaneck and John Loweck, Jr.; sons, Robert Pilz, Sr. and Ronald Pilz, Sr.; and granddaughter, Jessica Howard.
