On Friday, May 1, 2020, Linda Taylor Williamson passed peacefully from this life to Glory to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. First and foremost, she was a child of God and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her. She lived a full and blessed life. After she graduated from Arab High School in 1961, she immediately went to work. She began her career at NASA as a secretary and this is where she met her husband, Ken. They were married on Ken's birthday February 7, 1970 and celebrated 45 years of marriage. They had their daughter Dawn in late 1970. After being home a couple of years with their daughter Dawn, she returned to the work force in 1973 and began her long time career with Redstone Arsenal. She had a strong work ethic and worked her way up the ranks at the Arsenal and was a graduate of their Para-Trainee Program. Before she retired in 2008, she had been promoted and worked as a Budget Analyst for the Acquisition Center for Redstone Arsenal.
Linda was a huge Alabama football fan and simply enjoyed watching college football every season. She loved going shopping with her daughter and friends throughout her life where lots of fun memories were created. She was of the generation that enjoyed spending time together on the front porch or in the living room for hours at a time. There were many great memories created at family gatherings throughout her life. Her most prized possessions here on earth were her husband, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and church family. She had a wonderful life here on earth because she invested time into people. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family. After her beloved Ken passed away, she moved from Huntsville to Attalla to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She became a member of Steele Baptist Church where her son-in-law is the pastor. She loved her church family and sincerely loved all of the ladies of her Sunday School Class. They all had a very special bond. Linda was known for her kind spirit and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, Herman & Gladys Taylor of Arab, AL, her sister and brother in law Jane & Jimmy Crawford, and her beloved husband, Kenneth Solomon Williamson, her sister-in-law Sharon Mehnert McIntosh, and her nephew Brian Mehnert.
Linda is survived by her daughter Dawn (Steve) Lucy, her grandchildren Samuel Lucy and Sarah Grace Lucy, her brother Lynn (Gail) Taylor, adopted sister Mary Dearing, nephew Robert Taylor, Nieces, Adrienne (Steve) Rainwater, Dana (Mark) Jenkins, Brenda (Trevor) Bolanos Ivory, Melissa (Jonathan) England, great nephews Aaron (Emily) Taylor, Weston Jenkins, Avery Rainwater, Brandon Bolanos, and Justin England, and great Nieces Anna (Joshua) Walters, Paige Rainwater, Veronica Bolanos, Lauren Mehnert and Lindsey Mehnert and great, great nephews Blaine Walters, Brody Walters and Braxton Walters.
