Norma was born to Furman Augustus and Elma Magnolia Cox, on September 22, 1950. She was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School. Norma was retired from the City of Gadsden, Revenue Department, where she was so loved by her co-workers and made many life-long friends.
Norma loved her friends from her heart. She always made sure you knew how special you were to her and could always bring a smile to your face. She was an encourager and a shoulder to lean on, a prayer partner in need. She was the perfect example of what a true friend should be. True friends are never apart, maybe in distance, but never in heart.
Norma’s greatest love on earth was her cherished husband Dallas, and her beautiful daughter, Sophia. Dallas and Norma were married for 52 wonderful years. The love they shared was an example to many of what marriage should be. Sophia was the light in her mother’s eyes. She was so proud of her and enjoyed working with her in the family business. They were best friends and were always there for each other; whether to celebrate an event or to share in a need. Norma’s love for her family burns as an eternal flame, forever lighting the lives of Dallas and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Furman Augustus, and Elma Magnolia Cox. Sisters, Mary Alta (Charles)Hiers; Nettie Jo (Mike) Poggie; Delia Louise (Jerry) Powers; Barbara Magnolia (Ellas) Divers. Brothers, J.B. (Elsie) Cox; James Earl Cox; Jerry Ray Cox.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dallas McElroy; daughter, Sophia (Jay) Owens; Sister, Elmarae Cox (Gene) Dunn; Special Niece, Patty (Bobby) Partridge; Special Nephew, Lee Parr and great nephew Cade Parr; and numerous other nephew and nieces.
Special gratitude goes to the Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare workers at Riverview Medical Center for their kindness and care for Norma during her illness. May God keep and bless you all.
