Nya Ja'Nice Champion

The family will receive friends for visitation at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Monday July 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 6 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Funeral service to honor her life will be at 1:00 p.m. July 6, 2021 at Morgan Funeral Chapel. David Goodman, Cyndi Fountain, and Frankie Carroll will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.

Nya was an admissions clerk at Gadsden Regional Hospital. She was a graduate of Sardis High School, class of 2019. As a member of the danceline at Sardis High School, Glencoe High School, and multiple dance teams, Nya won awards for competitive hip hop dancing. She attended Cathedral of praise.

Nya loved spending time with her family and friends, playing with her niece and nephew, and deer hunting with her uncle. She shot her first buck this year.

Throughout her life, Nya was a selfless compassionate person and bundle of contagious energy. She cared deeply about her family and friends, and never hesitated to go out of her way to help others.

Nya leaves behind:

Her mother, Andrea Champion.

Her father, Keith (Mary) Hamilton.

Brother, Seth (Jessi) Benefield.

Sister, Shellby Benefield (Max Levy).

Brother, Akira Asgre.

Brother, Retonio (Shanika) Hamilton and their son, Retonio "RJ" Hamilton Jr.

Sister, Brandi Dozier and her sons Ryan and Ryley Gieger.

Niece, Avery Benefield.

Nephew, Grayson Benefield.

Grandparents, Janice Wade, Bonnie and Oscar Link, Faye Benefield.

Along with a host of loving aunts and uncles, cousins, and extended family.

Nya was preceded in death by: Grandfathers, James "Papa Jim" Benefield, Ronnie "Papa Ron" King, Billy Joe "Papa" Wade, Romanza and Ostell Hamilton, her sister Mary Benefield, and Mary's baby Luke Dempsey.
