Richard Earl Saxon Jr.

Funeral will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday, 7-10-2018 at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Richard Earl Saxon Jr., age 83 of the Duck Springs Community in Attalla, AL. Rev. Bobby Kitchens will officiate with burial in Cave Spring Cemetery.

Earl attended Auburn University and Jacksonville State before working 35 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was Chairman of Big Wills Water and Fire Protection Authority from 1974 to 1979. He was a Deacon at Cave Springs Baptist Church and was responsible for care of Cave Springs Cemetery for 30 years. Earl was ALFA County President for 11 years and served on State Board of Directors. He was selected for the FFA Alabama Wall of Honor in 2006 and the Heritage Registry of Who's Who in Agriculture in 2007.

Earl is survived by his wife, Virginia Miller Saxon; son, Clifford Allen Saxon; grandson, Justin Lee Saxon; sister, Gail (Jerry) Peters; sister-in-law, Kay Hardtke; nieces, Vickie and Claire Moore and chosen grandson, Josh White.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Murray, Homer Allen, Tom Miller, Brad Sewell, Oscar Willett and Clyde Patterson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Barney Sewell, Troy Mack Willett, Deacons at Cave Springs Baptist Church and Valley Breakfast Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cave Springs Cemetery, c/o Tom Miller, 2361 Duck Springs Road, Attalla, AL 35954
