

Funeral services for Ronnie Lamar Garmany, age 73 of Altoona who passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Smith and Michael Elrod officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Egypt Community. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Ronnie served in the Army during the Vietnam War for 2 years and was honorably discharged due to being wounded. During his service he was awarded several medals such as the Bronze Star for Valor and a Purple Heart. After the war, Ronnie married Paula Jean Hancock and they had two children, Jamie and Shellie. They were married for 40 years before Paula passed away. Ronnie completed his apprenticeship to become a pipe fitter and was part of the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States for 40 years. He retired from TVA after 30 years of service. Ronnie was a member of Tabor Missionary Baptist Church where he pastored for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Paula; son Jamie; parents: Virgil and Audie Garmany and brother, Eddie Garmany
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; daughter, Shellie and Michael; granddaughters: Courtney (Skylar), Alyssa (Jamie), Makenzie (Tanner), and Kaley; great grands: Cash, Kynleigh, Paisley and Bransen; brother, Anthony (Sharon); sister in law, Phyllis Garmany and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Smith, Khris Yancey, Donald Garmany, Tracy Oliver, Skylar Roberts, Jamie Crutcher and Tanner Kent.
Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Oliver and Jerry Walker.
