Shirley B Wood

Funeral Service will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Beshears and Rev. Chase Dowdy officiating. Committal service and internment following at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friend for visitation prior to the service from 12:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.

Mrs. Wood was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her family with her whole heart. Shirley was a lifelong member of Stowers Hill Baptist Church, where she also played the piano and organ for many years.

She always made sure her husband and children had everything they needed and she became famous by her children’s friends for her care packages that became known as “Shirley Packs”. There was one for every occasion.

She was affectionately called “Joy” by her grandchildren that thought she hung the moon. She loved the Lord with all her heart and shared His love with her family and everyone she met.

Shirley arrived at her heavenly home greeted by her loved ones that had gone on before: her husband of 59 years, Jerry Mack Wood; her father and mother, E.R. & Myrtle Ballard; brother, Gary Ballard and her granddaughter, her “Sugar Plum”, Madison Wood.

Mrs. Wood leaves behind: daughter, Kristi (David) Dunn, Attalla; son, Shane (Gina) Wood, Sardis; grandchildren: Hannah (Ethan) Bolding, Colby (Courtlyn) Dunn, and Eli Dunn; great grandchild, River Bolding; brother, Steve Ballard; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Betty Jo Osborn and special friend and caregiver, Crystal Pankey.

The family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation to the doctors and staff of Albertville Nursing Home and Rehab Select. You were all blessing to our mother.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Colby Dunn, Eli Dunn, Jeff Stephens, Randy Gomez, Dawson Roden, Ethan Bolding, Jason Nicholson and Chris O’Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Ballard and Kenny Flowers.
