Thomas Eugene Farley, born February 16th, 1953, passed from this life and into his heavenly home on July 30th, 2024. Visitation will be Friday August 2nd from 12pm-2pm at Morgan Funeral Home and Crematory and followed by a service at 2pm.
Tommy was born the youngest and 12th child of John and Susan Farley. He was doted on and spoiled by his older sisters when he was a baby, and this continued until his passing. He was named for his oldest brother, Bobby Thomas, who was serving in Korea when Tommy was born. Bobby had written a letter to his mother and asked her to name the baby after him if it was a boy, just in case he didn’t make it home (thankfully he did). Tommy attended Etowah High School where he played on the football team as a talented linebacker. In 1970 he was the recipient of the Charity Bowl Billy Hill Memorial Trophy for Most Outstanding Lineman. He graduated in 1972 and in 1975, he met the love of his life, Pam. They were married June 27th, 1975, went on to have 3 children, and were married for 49 years. Tommy worked as a truck driver as well as a carpenter during his years of work. After high school and until the mid 1980’s, he played softball and was known as a reliable slugger who never failed to hit the ball. He was also a talented woodworker able to make beautiful custom wooden furniture.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susan;brothers Bobby, Freddie, William (Dub); sisters Martha and Dorothy; and lifelong best friends Raymond Scales and John William Kilgore.
Tommy is survived by his precious wife Pam; sons, Shane (Kelli), Will (Jennifer); daughter, Jennifer Belyeu (Heath);grandsons, Thomas Farley, Kade Farley, Jonas Belyeu, Fisher Belyeu, and Hunter Haney; brothers Charles (Sandra), Larry(Linda), and Roy (Jackie); sisters, Betty Shaefbauer, Kay Slaton, and Nell Wheeler (Bruce); chosen family, Susie Scales, Andy Scales, Amanda Fowler, and Keri Martin, Tim Beasley, Greg Murdock, and Gerald Foster; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Maggie.
There are so many things that we will miss-his quick comebacks, sense of humor, his ability to tell us how to fix or build anything, and his loud, booming laugh just to name a few. We are thankful for every minute that we had with him.
The family would like to thank Chief Harold Watson and the Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Jason Junkins and the wonderful staff of ACG/Agape Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the Etowah County Sheriff's Charities or Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
Morgan Funeral Chapel is in charge arrangements.
