

Tommie was a great husband, father, friend and Christian man. He was a graduate of Etowah High School, he served 3 years of military service in Thailand with the United States Army along with 10 additional years of service with the Etowah County Rescue Squad, 7 of which he served as Treasurer. Tommie gave 43 years of professional service before retiring from Noland Company of Gadsden. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed much of his life outdoors. Along with the happiness he found outdoors, he enjoyed watching Auburn University sports and classic westerns.
He was preceded in death by his father, former Attalla Police Chief, Claude Carr; mother, Myrtis Carr; sister, Peggy Somners; brother, Danny Carr and chosen daughter, Debbie Stephens.
Tommie is survived by his wife, Peggy Carr; son, Tommie Ray (Susie) Carr; grandsons: TJ (Lauren) Carr and Kylor Carr; sister, Betty Jane Hammett; Step mother, Virginia Carr; chosen children: Sharon (Scott) Beck and Suzanne Stephens; chosen grandchildren: Kristi (Jason) Mikle, Brittany Stephens, Charlie Stephens, Haley (Caleb) Teet, Ashlyn Beck, Heather Knight, Matthew Mascarenhas and Nathan Mascarenhas; chosen great grandchildren: Ren, Adalyn, Ezra, Sam, Margaret and Emmett Mikle and Kaiden Stephens; beloved fur babies: Sweet-pea, Socks and Snow and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sammy O’dell officiating and special music from Carolyn Jones. Casual dress is requested. Burial will immediately follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
Pallbearers will be TJ Carr, Kylor Carr, Steve Swindall, Homer Colvin, Todd Hill, Scott Baker, John McGowan and Tommy Lucias.
