

Wayne Kilgore, 77, of Attalla passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home Friday, December 16th after a two-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 20th at Morgan’s Funeral Chapel followed by the Interment at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Brother Larry Garrard and Brother Philip Elliott will officiate.
Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, coach, mentor, avid fisherman for 57 years, a loyal alumnus of Etowah High School and faithful member of Cherry Street Baptist Church. He retired from Gulf States Steel after 37 years of service as Captain of Security. During his fishing career, he participated in the North Alabama Buddy Team Trail (NABTT), Coosa River Team Trail, Steel Plant Bass Club, Goodyear Bass Club, Local Boys Tournaments, Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail, Guntersville Marine Couples Tournament Trail, Guys and Dolls Couples Tournament Trail, FLW & BFL Bass Fishing Leagues, American Bass Anglers, Bass Nation, American Scholarship and Gadsden Bass Trackers. Pops, as he was affectionately called, enjoyed watching and supporting his grandchildren in their various activities. He spent countless hours traveling to their tournaments and events.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Florence Kilgore.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Dollar Kilgore, of 42 years; daughters, Delta (Mike) Ryan, Misti (Jeff) Fairchild, son Shaine (Carrie) Stewart; sister, Frieda Adams; grandchildren, Patrick (Kaylyn), Blake, Heather, Sydney, Juliana, Makenzie Kate, Brock, Eli and Areli.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Wood, Brock Stewart, Eli Stewart, Joey Nance, Peyton Nance and Bennett Nance. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Clay, Tommy Hamrick, Rick O’Neal, Stanley Holcombe, Dennis Barnes, Billy Lasseter, J.P. Pirani and Harold Crosson.
