

William Allen Cunningham passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at his home in Gallant, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Brothers Cunningham, his parents, Winton Roscoe and Ruth Vermillion Cunningham, of Bristol, Tennessee, and his sisters, Mary Sue Cunningham Alley of Tucker, Georgia and Nancy Cunningham Binkley of Cleveland, Tennessee.
Mr. Cunningham is survived by his three nieces, Melissa Binkley Reynolds of Cleveland, Tennessee, Susan Alley Hicks of Tucker, Georgia and Betsy Alley Fitzgerald of Eatonton, Georgia and by his nephew David W. Binkley of St. Augustine, Florida. Also surviving are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. James Brothers and Mrs. Hazel Brothers of Gallant. Among a number of great-nieces and great-nephews are John Mark Reynolds of New York, New York, William Andrew Reynolds of Washington, DC, Emily Wade Reynolds of Denver, Colorado, Ruth Harton Binkley and Ann Marie Binkley both of St. Augustine, Florida, Jennifer Brothers and Laura Eady, both of Gallant, Rachel Tripp of Chelsea, Alabama and Amy Yates of Santa Cruz, California.
He received his education in the Bristol, Tennessee city schools and graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Agriculture. Mr. Cunningham enjoyed a successful career as an agribusiness professional. He served in the United States Air Force during the Cold War era manning listening stations in multiple overseas locations. He was an amateur radio expert operating as station W4SSV.
A memorial service honoring Mr. Cunningham’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday February 16, 2018 at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Attalla, AL. The family will receive friends for visitation for a half hour prior to the service Friday, from 12:30 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Pastor Tom Brown will officiate. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing. The family asks in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Gallant First Baptist Church Food Ministry.
