Dakota started his life’s journey on October 17th, 2002. Born to loving parents David Yee, and Tara Wilson who both grew up in Placer County, and were graduates of Del Oro High School.
Dakota grew up around Livestock cattle, goats, sheep, mules, and pigs, were a daily activity for him. He was a very active member of the 4-H club in his youth, and FFA in his Highschool years. As a toddler Dakota developed a special love for chickens. Dakota was often found in the chicken pen hanging out with “Owie Chicken”. Because of Dakota’s love for chickens, if there were a weird disease that a chicken could pass to humans, Dakota got it! If he weren’t hanging out with chickens, he loved to help his dad and his older brother work on cars, and equipment, and he loved tractors and heavy equipment which helped him later in life to choose his career path.
One of the happiest times of his life was when his older brother helped him get a job with Jim Dobbas, Inc. while still in Highschool. He worked with them until they closed their doors a few years ago.
In his leisure time Dakota was avid fisherman. Nearing his Highschool graduation his stepdad David Chaddock and Mom Tara bought him a fishing boat for his graduation present. They enlisted the help of his brother Dustyn Wilson to restore, paint, and christen the “S.S. Toad”, so named by Dustyn after his pet name for Dakota. A huge joy for him was when his Great Uncle Ken bought him, his brother, and father, fishing trip to Alaska. We all ate fish for what seemed like an eternity afterwards!
Dakota also loved shooting sports, and was a member of the Del Oro High Trap Team. He’d go on hunting trips with his father David Yee and brother Dustyn and much to their chagrin would get the first and biggest bucks, largest pheasants, and needle them about their misfortunes.
Dakota was preparing to wed the girl of his dreams Grace Von Aesch this coming June. Dakota and Grace had been together for almost six years, and had known each other since grade school. Their love for each other grew solid and strong daily. Theirs was a tale of young love that blossomed and grew, and they were both excited to spend their futures together, and we were all pleased that they had found each other. They were a cute couple together, and although it was tragic his love Grace was by his side at the end. The passing of Dakota has left a huge hole in the hearts of all of the family, as well as his many friends and acquaintances.
Dakota is survived by his Fiancé’ Grace Von Aesch, mother and stepfather Tara and David Chaddock, of Whittemore, IA, his Father and Step mother David and Shannon Yee, of Bradley, South Carolina. A herd of siblings Dustyn Wilson and his wife Shelby, Zachary Hall and his wife Tracy, Jani Collin’s, Rebecca Chaddock, and Bailey Yee. Grandparents Henry and Sue Sacra of Wheatland, CA, and Dennis and Sheryl Willson of Lincoln, CA.
Dakota was loved by many, and in this time of grief to the family, it has been great to get the support of so many that knew and loved him, and even those whom he never met. We’d like to thank everyone for coming together and confirming what we already knew about him. I’m sure that he never realized just how many lives he touched in such a positive way, as he was being true to himself, by just being “Dakota”!
