

George Kieran Grant died peacefully in his home on April 9, 2014 at the age of 76 from pulmonary fibrosis. He left behind a legacy of love and leadership to a family of 7 children, 11 grandchildren , 1 great grandchild and his wife.. He was a graduate of Placer High, Sierra JC, Sac State (Magna cum Laude, BS & MS), and University of Cincinnati, Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. His honors included Most Valuable Football Player at Sierra, and Alumnus of the Year at Univ. of Cincinnati. His highly successful engineering career was at Aerojet, Northrop Grumman and the US Attorney General's Office. He retired early to Foresthill, Ca. and ran Grant Hardware for 17 years. He was known for his joy, exuberance, smile, and hugs in both work and play. He was an engineer, a developer, a hardware store proprietor, and a gold miner. Life was an adventure to him, and his family and friends enjoyed the ride with him. If you knew George, you loved him. Services are Monday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1162 LIncoln Way in Auburn, CA., followed by burial in Foresthill in the Catholic cemetery.
