Herman Cosentino was born in Gustine, California to James and Frances Cosentino. He was one of 13 children. He served in the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945 as a baker and then a hospital ship medic. He married Ruth Muncher of Anniston, Alabama on July 1, 1943. They resided in Pittsburg, California for 57 years before moving to Lake of the Pines Community in Auburn, California to be closer to family in 2003. Following his military service, he was employed by Shell Chemical in West Pittsburg, Ca for 40 years.
They had four children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed family get-togethers, trips to Lake Tahoe, vegetable gardening, playing cards, Jazz and Swing music, working hard, feeding the deer, and taking his naps.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth; children: James Cosentino (DeAnn Wimer) of McAllen, Texas, Janet Anderson (Bob) of Auburn, Ca, Susan Heath (Jim) of Citrus Heights, CA, and Stephan Cosentino of Manteca. Also, grandchildren: Richard, Carole, Patrick, Michelle, Robert, Scott, Katie, and Ryan.; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Troy, Ashley, Brandon, Layla, Taylor, Jamie, Faith, and Sheena. He is also survived his sisters: Sue, Louise, Rose, Delma, Jean, and Pauline and brothers: Tony and Alfred Cosentino. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arthur, Patrick, Nicholas, and Henry and grand-daughter, Alice. Visitation will be held on July 1, 2010 from 12:00 to 2:00 followed by services at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Hills in Auburn Ca.
