Michael Sean Lipsmeyer born in Auburn, Ca on June 18th, 1968 lived a full life in his 46 years. He passed onto the next life on October 11th, 2014 doing what brought him joy, abalone diving while camping with friends and family off the Mendocino Coast. Best friend and husband to Carmela Whatley, loving father of Kindal, Carl and Anna.
Michael enjoyed the simple things in life, a fouty (forty ounce Coors), a good tune and funny YouTube video were all he needed. Except for his family, that’s all he needed. And his garden and that’s it. Michael was a man of many passions. He was a talented athlete and in his high school days at Placer he was known on the football field and basketball court as Lipper. A seasoned rock star, Michael was the best dashboard drummer this world has known and his band Liquid Fusion was just about to sign a record deal. His talent and passion for music was something he loved to share with family and friends (both willing and unwilling). A budding model, Michael was known for his versatility at photo shoots and his impeccable fashion sense (and his lustrous mane in his earlier years). As a comedian he did standup traveling extensively room to room in his home, doing bits for audiences of laughers and hecklers. He always believed in his slapstick comedy and if he could crack just one smile or conjure just one chuckle he succeeded. In the culinary world Michael gained much respect as a gastronomic genius and even had a cooking show in the works. His signature meals were an all day affair with fresh ingredients from his garden and always ready no earlier than 9:00 p.m. A nature man at heart he spent many hours admiring and studying the great outdoors, from a mighty mountain to a spider web in his garden. Being so in tune with nature led to a unique ability to communicate with animals as he was a champion turkey caller, gifted squirrel whisperer and fluent in meow. He also is the one responsible for any Bigfoot sightings (sorry to burst your bubble monster hunters). Michael’s hands alone possessed much talent as a master builder, humble artist and exceptional masseuse. Michael, an all around good man with a warm smile who cherished relationships and moments, could make you feel comfortable just hanging out.
Michael worked for Roumage Construction for 28 years. Michael is survived by his mother Dorothy Forsberg, step father Ray Brown, step mother Patricia Smyth, brothers Jon Lipsmeyer, Sean Lipsmeyer and Jeff Smyth. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Michael is preceded in death by his father Ronald Lipsmeyer, grandparents, great aunts and uncles and good friend Troy Arter. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Vina Castellano, 4590 Bell Rd. Auburn, Ca 95602. Donations can be made to the Michael Lipsmeyer Memorial Account at Tri Counties Bank, 789 High St. Auburn, Ca 95603.
