

He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carlen Mary Henry; sons Michael and Keith Henry; grandson Michael Santos and great granddaughter Taylor Rae Thornsberry. He is survived by his current wife Robyn; sons Robert and Andrew Henry and daughter Tammy Middleton; ten grandchildren; Tiffany, Jennifer, Meagan, Katie, Whitney, Chelsey, Zack, Jake, Chloe and Buddie; nine great grandchildren; Ava, Bryce, Dixie, Cailey, Lillianna, Mirandalynn, Kirstie, Bryan and Taryn.
Gene was born on July 12, 1934 in Stirling City, CA to Clyde and Margaret. He moved to Foresthill in 1949. In 1952 while working as a Logger, he also volunteered on the Foresthill Fire Dept. & Search & Rescue crew. He was drafted into the Army in 1957, where he served until 1959. After returning home, he continued to serve as a volunteer Fireman, EMT and Search & Rescue. In addition to working full time, he was also raising a family with his wife, Carlen. During his marriage to Carlen, the couple welcomed numerous families into their home, who had lost their homes to fire. They remained in the Henry home until they were able to re build their own homes and lives. After twenty-eight years of service he retired from the Placer County Water Agency.
Gene was a very accomplished, extraordinary man who loved his family and loved life. He was kind, gentle, compassionate, genuine and true. He spent his entire adult life serving his Country, community and fellow man in one way or another. He gave fifty years of dedicated service to the Foresthill Community as a volunteer Fireman/ EMT Search & Rescue. Gene worked numerous fund raisers to afford Foresthill the equipment, supplies and emergency vehicles needed to run the Safety Club. He helped save many lives over the years. In recognition of his service as a volunteer, he received a Placer County Hero Award and a commemorative coin in 2003.
A Memorial is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 at 1:00 pm at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Foresthill, CA. Bobby Adams will conduct the ceremony. In addition, there will be a Masonic Service, and full Honor Guard salute. A reception will follow and all are welcome to attend and join the celebration of Gene’s life.
