

Walter M Cardinet passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thurs. evening, September 29th. He was born in Oarkland, California to George H and Mary Cardinet, April 22, 1918. He is survived by his loving son, Walter M Cardinet Jr. and granddauhters, Kelly Nemecek of Phoenix, Arizona, Simone Nelson of San Jose, California, and Gina Johnson of Elk Grove, California. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren. He grew up in Oakland and after graduation from Oakland High, he went to Saint Mary's College. When WWII broke out, he joined the Navy and flew blimps up and down the California coast looking for Japanese submarines. He worked for the Cardinet Candy Co until it was sold to Ralston Purina in the early 1970s. Afterwards, he sold real estate in Walnut Creek before moving to Folsom. There, he was the director of tennis for the Folsom Recreation dept until he retired at age 79. He lived in Auburn with his beloved Lucille until her death in 2006. Walt loved talking about how St Mary's beat Cal and USC in football, back in the 1930s. He was also a loyal SF 49er fan. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 am at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603. Viewing will be prior to the service; from 10:00 to 11:00. All are invited to a reception lunch at Max’s Restaurant immediately following the service. Burial at the New Auburn Cemetery will take place at 2:30 pm.
