William Lloyd Saunders

William Saunders, 74, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2015 in Auburn, CA. He was born in Yuba City, CA on June 13, 1940 to Charles and Estha Saunders. The family moved to Sacramento and then to Citrus Heights, CA, where Bill graduated from San Juan High School in 1958. He then served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, as an aircraft mechanic.

He married Joy Riekena on December 21, 1963. He moved with his family to Foresthill, CA in 1979. Bill worked at McClellan AFB for 27 years, retired in 1993, as an aircraft maintenance foreman.

He enjoyed going camping, fishing and hunting. Bill was a member of the American Legion Warren McKeon Post 587, Past Commanders Outpost 7, and the Masons Illinoistown-Clay Lodge No. 51.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife, Joy, son Daniel Saunders, daughter Pamela Freed (Brion), granddaughter Melody Saunders, grandsons Gregory and Eric Freed, brother Jim Morris, sister Joyce Tawes (Roy), and nieces and nephews.
