Marie was born the daughter of Charles and Anna (Hogrebe) Krupitzer in Royal Oak, Michigan on August 15, 1926. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Royal Oak, Michigan, class of 1944. After graduation, Marie worked as a drill press operator at a machine shop in Detroit and was introduced to her future husband, Daniel Joseph Valko at a church picnic by his Mother, and her fellow bowling league member, Marie.
Marie married Daniel in Clawson Michigan on July 22, 1950. They moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1955, where together they raised ten children and enjoyed almost every minute of the experience. She loved her family more than anything and devoted her life to them.
Marie was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church (now St. Damien of Molokai) in Pontiac and had a career as a teacher aid for many years in the Pontiac Public School system. She was also a life long Detroit Tigers fan, and tried to watch every game, no matter their record.
In her younger years Marie enjoyed bowling, playing in a women’s softball league and camping with her family throughout the US and Canada. Marie continued to enjoy more travel with Daniel, reading, knitting and visiting with family and friends during her later years.
Marie is survived by her children Diane (Everett) Cummings, Daniel Valko, Debra (John) Demers, Mark (Victoria) Valko, Michael (Pamela) Valko, Marsha (Max) Hoogenstryd, Douglas (Thomas Burden) Valko, Michelle (Aaron) Furman, and Deanna (Darin) Figurskey; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother Robert (Marion) Krupitzer. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Anna Krupitzer; her husband Daniel Valko, son Matthew Valko and siblings Eileen Haney, Alma Hadley, Rosie Krupitzer, Agnes Williams, and Charles Krupitzer.
Marie’s family will welcome all to a memorial gathering on Thursday July 15, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday July 16, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 3530 Auburn Road in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
