Susan Jo Skotzke of Auburn Hills, MI died at the age of 70 on August 22, 2021, after her fight with cancer at Beaumont Hospital Troy. Her death came just one month prior to her 48th wedding anniversary.
She was a very special person who loved life. She was a great mother, an avid reader, loved making a home for all of us. Most of all she loved the outdoors whether it was just sitting on the backyard deck or going on motorcycle trips, trout fishing or just relaxing at our camp site up north where she was the happiest. With her artistic talent Susan loved making wedding and specialty cakes.
Susan graduated form St. Cyril & Methodius in Detroit where she shared with us many anticks of her school years that more than not got her in trouble. In 1970 while working at Burroughs Corp, now Unisys Corp, she met her husband, Greg, were married September 22, 1973. They had two great kids, Keith and Amanda.
After staying home for several years decided to go back to work for a short time to pay off braces for Keith. That short time lasted 20 years at McDonalds where she was a manager. She loved that job and the people she met during those years. After taking a year off decided to go back to work and got a job working in the produce department. Good news for me because she taught me how to not buy bad veggies. Here again, she worked with some very fine people that added to her list of people she stayed in contact with.
After her mother moved into Assisted Living Susan was very committed to continue her weekly visits until her mom’s death in March of 2021.
Susan is survived by her husband Greg, son and daughter Keith and Amanda, her mother-in-law Frances who turned 100 in December of 2020. Also included are her sisters Donna (Puszczyk) Conway and her husband John, Chris (Puszczyk) Dillon and her husband Dave, brother Robert Puszczyk and wife Karen. In addition, are all the nieces, nephews and their children.
There will be a one day viewing at Pixley Funeral Home located at 3530 Auburn Rd, Auburn Hills, MI on Thursday Aug 26, 2021, from 2 PM to 8 PM, with a service beginning at 7:30 PM. After the viewing per Susan’s request she will be cremated.
