After a wonderful life of over 95 years, William "Bill" Wilson went to be with the Lord on the morning of October 8, 2018 at home next to his loving wife of 64 years, Delores.
Born on June 22, 1923 in Elmira, New York to Glenn and Jeulena Wilson, Bill graduated from Breesport (NY) High School in 1941. Bill enlisted in and proudly and bravely served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-24 flight engineer with the 484th Bomb Group, 825th Squadron, 15th Air Force, flying 21 combat missions in the European Theater. Bill was proud of his service to his country that he loved, and attended several Bomb Group reunions over the years. As a World War II combat veteran, a few years ago Bill had the honor of traveling to Washington, DC with fellow World War II veterans to visit their memorials as part of the Honor Flight Network.
Following the war, Bill earned his mechanical engineering degree from Rochester (NY) Institute of Technology and embarked on a successful career with Moore Business Forms holding a variety of senior management positions which took him and his family from New York State, to Buckhannon, West Virginia, Toronto Ontario, to Surrey England. Following his retirement in 1982, Bill and Delores moved to Austin, Texas where Bill enjoyed golf and travelling. They ultimately moved to Plano, Texas and then most recently to Rochester Hills, MI.
With a love of reading and and a zest for learning, Bill remained actively engaged in various activities until his final days. With a quick wit and a great sense of humor, Bill was a joy to be around and was a friend to many. He loved spending time with family and friends, always enjoying an engaging conversation and a good laugh. A gentleman and a loyal and honorable man, Bill was an inspiration and a fine role model to his two sons, grandchildren and many people who were fortunate to know him.
A kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, Bill will fondly and lovingly be remembered by his wife Delores, his sons Clark and Stewart, his daughters-in-law Leigh and Ashley, his grandchildren Adam and Allie, his sister Francis Rugaber and her husband Bob, his nephews, and many friends.
