Since I broke my bike we can no longer take rides to God knows where. And He really knows where we are riding today.You were a brother who only needed a reason to spend loving time with a brother or anyone. I miss you and Don and Bill a lot and there are no replacements. My family
has been and always will be in the seats of what I consider best friends. Say Hi to God and tell Him to keep His eyes on me. 
The day your Kind Heart failed is a day that will always be fresh to me. You are true representation of what it takes to be a big brother. Thank you.

Our family has great memories of Chuck on the soccer fields where his carefree and happy ways were contagious! We knew him in business as well and his kind and honest way of working with people was admired.  We are saddened for his family...he is gone far too early. Larry and I had known Chuck since elementary school.  Larry, his brother Mike, Randy Stegmeier and Chuck shared many fun times together.  Scouts, sports, time spent at each others house.  I was a Meridian Jr High girl so I missed out on those years, but once we got to high school we were all together again.  There were football games, dances, get togethers at Foster's and Sherwood's and baseball in the spring. Chuck was always so appreciative of the signs and things we did as members of the Pep Club.  When I was at WSU Larry and Chuck would come over to visit Randy and me.  We didn't see him as much after college, but always picked up the friendship where we left off when we did get together at class reunions.  He helped us get the stone trim when we were building our house 7 years ago and came and played golf at Suncadia.  Family and friends were always important to him.  We are in Palm Springs and won't be able to make the memorial service tomorrow, but want all of the family to know how sorry we are and how much we will miss him.

My brother Bill and I were quite familiar with the Dehnert clan back in the days when Kent was still dairies and farms -- we spent a lot of our teenage hours in the berry fields making a few bucks (and I think Randy Stegmeier was there too). I hope it is a comfort to his family that after all these years, Chuck is remembered fondly as a friend and fine human being.

Brian and Kyle, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My memories of your dad include his great love of soccer and his passion for kids. Working with the little ones at soccer camps made him so happy. I also remember how he loved to brag about the two of you! My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Chuck.  I was  one of  3 Sherwood girls, that ran with the group of 1968 graduate boys of KM.  Such fond memories of growing up in Kent with this group;  sports, trips to Sea-Tac Airport to watch the people coming and going, opening day fishing season parties are just a few..  The loss of Chuck at such a young age, causes me to confirm that we better be doing what we need to be doing right now-  who knows how much time we really have.  See you later Chuck!. Chuck was a life-long friend who was the very first person to reach out to me when I was "the new kid" starting the eighth grade at Kent Junior High. It was a very traumatic time for me and his reaching out was truly one of those defining moments in my growing up.

Being a classmate, teammate, neighbor and friend of Chuck's was a blessing and a delight. He made my life better and I am so grateful for the wonderful times I got to spend with him! Those memories bring tears and they bring laughter, but the latter will prevail.

God bless the Dehnert family; though he's gone from us for now, he'll live on in all of our hearts.

I rode the same school bus as Chuck. We were in Boy Scouts together along with my brother Chuck and MIke. Many good times from those days. He was always a fine example of the Scout law. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Once you met Chuck you could always count him as a friend.  I have great memories of our times together in Nash Hall and playing football at WWU.

I went to high school with Chuck. He was always kind, one of the classmates I remember fondly because he such a nice guy.

Chuck was always an advocate for kids and for life.  He always had a way to make them feel good about themselves.  He helped them stand a little taller and play a little harder with more confidence.  Chuck will be missed

I was fortunate enough to work with Chuck for many years in the Masonry Industry.  It was truly a sad day when I heard of his passing.  Chuck was always a joy to speak with.  He took great pride in his work and his friendships.  It was an honor to know him.  He will be missed.

I remember playing in a JV game at Simon Fraser, and we were up by a few scores. Chuck always had a lot of energy and enthusiasm, so when he scored his first touchdown, he jumped up as high as he could and came down awkwardly, spraining his ankle. We all had a laugh at that, but no one laughed harder than Chuck. Good memories.

I can never think back to my high school years without thinking of Chuck, because he was one of the big reasons those memories are so wonderful. Chuck, you leave behind a legacy of love, laughter, and caring with your family and friends. You left your little corner of the world a better place, and no one can hope for more than that. We were fortunate to have Chuck as a neighbor for a couple years. He was always pleasant and cared about his family and home. We are so very sorry for your loss.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Chuck's passing today!  Brian, I am so sorry for your loss, we just lost my father-in-law one month ago so I truly can feel your pain.  Growing up playing soccer in Bellingham we all got to know Chuck real well as he was the type of guy that seemed to not only have an interest in each Ranger team but had a true interest in each one of us players. He truly was proud of you boys and talked about you both often!  After moving away from Bellingham I hadn't seen Chuck for quite sometime until a few years back when I ran into him in Kirkland. He Greeted me with a hug and quickly talked about how proud he was of you boys(men).  Chuck lived his life as an open book and taught me how important it is to take pride in my children's extra curricular activities and to know their friends.  God Bless you Chuck I know you are and will be missed!!!
