Emma was born July 16, 1926 to Lydia (Berreth) and Phillip Badure at the family farm near Isabel, South Dakota. She grew up in a family of eight sisters, four brothers and one half-brother. At an early age she moved to Mobridge, South Dakota and worked in the American Café and Mobridge Dry Cleaners.
Emma married Oscar Hettich in Mobridge, South Dakota on December 1, 1948. To this union a daughter Sherry was born. The little family then moved to McLaughlin, SD where Emma operated a café, rising very early to bake her homemade pies each morning, along with all the great home-cooked meals. The family moved to Seattle, Washington in 19__. They lived in Auburn where Emma was employed as a seamstress at Vanvorst Mattress Co. She was devoted to being an excellent homemaker and entertaining family and friends who came to visit from South Dakota and from various other locations. The welcome mat was always there.
Emma is survived by her daughter Sherry Staab of Seattle, grand-daughter and care-giver Chelle (Harry) Haire, and grandson Bill (Carol) Staab of Puyallup, WA. She is also survived by two brothers; John (Jeanne) Badure of Mobridge, SD, and Allen Badure of Belvidere, SD, and three sisters: Martha Schreiber of Miles City, MT, Vi (Walt) Hagstrom of Lake Isabella, CA, and LaVon Adair of Hysham, MT, and her many nieces and nephews who were so very special to her.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, of 46 years, and three brothers: Bill, Albert, and Rufus Badure; and five sisters: Hilda Patrick, Edna Ewalt, Thelma Wagener, Sally Thompson, and Kay Gill.
We will share great memories of Em and her love of family, the delicious food she prepared, and seeing her having a great time on the dance floor. Emma was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by many loved ones who have gone before.
A Memorial Service will be held at Price-Helton Funeral Home, 702 Auburn Way N., Auburn, WA on Nov. 10th at 11am.
