Reverend Bertha Louise Lynn, 96 years young of Eagle Lake, FL changed her residence to the golden streets of glory on Tuesday morning, March 28, 2023. She faded from her children’s embrace into the precious, loving arms of Jesus. Without doubt, she heard her Savior say, “well done, good and faithful servant”.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Simon Lynn, her parents Seldon and Pearle Williams, her brother Herlon Williams and his wife Ziney, and granddaughter Tanisha Lynn.
Bertha was married to the late Rev. Simon Lynn for 38 years. Together they pastored 15 churches, served in youth ministries throughout Penn Florida, West Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. She was the District Women’s Ministry leader for 3 years and was a student in the first class at Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland where she helped clear the property for development and declared her ministry commitment. She continued to pastor in Avon Park following the passing of her husband. She later moved to Eagle Lake and was able to assist various ministries until she became the lead pastor of Northside Assembly of God in Winter Haven, FL. She was a licensed and credentialed minister through the Assemblies of God for over 60 years. A fervent prayer warrior, preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ who cared for all with the purest servant’s heart. She truly walked and talked with Jesus every day.
Bertha was the mother to 3 wonderful children, Brenda (Colin) Catrett, Michael (Daphine) Lynn, and Joel (Pamela) Lynn. She was the grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 8 of their spouses, great grandmother to 28 and 2 of their spouses, and the great-great grandmother to 2 little ones. Each one had an incredible bond with “Ma”. She showed how to be humble, kind, gentle, loving, compassionate, and loyal. She showed everyone what grace and mercy really looks like. She taught how to serve others selflessly and to persevere. “Ma” will always be a portrait of beautiful strength.
