Joann Jones

Joann Jones, 73, of Winter Haven, FL, departed this life on October 28th,2021, surrounded by her family in Hurricane, WV, after a brief battle with cancer. Joann was born in Winter Haven, FL on March 13th, 1948, to Margaret (Kitchens) and James Ayers Jr. She lived her entire life in Winter Haven, having never left the state until just before her passing. She attended Winter Haven High School. She spent her entire adult life caring for elderly patients in their homes, only retiring several years ago. To know Joann was to be loved by Joann. Her loving and selfless nature was afforded to all she came in contact with.Joann always appreciated the fine details and beauty of her surroundings. She went out of her way to let people know they were loved by her and she will be deeply missed. She was a dedicated Christian, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret Lucille Ayers and James Ayers, JR, her sisters Vera Mae Gilley (Kenny) and Frances Ayers. Her former husband, Jack C. Jones Jr.

Left to carry on her memory are her children Steven Jones of Winter Haven, FL, Charles Gongloff (Cathy) of Bono, AR, and Maggie Mosteller of Nitro, WV. She is also survived by her brother Steve Ayers and special sister in law, Selma Ayers of Winter Haven, FL. Special Brother in Law Kenny Gilley, of Live Oak, FL, Special nephew Ricky Ayers (Cindy). Her grandchildren April Kniceley (Zack) of Nitro, WV, Heather Whittington (Addam) of Hurricane, WV, Christopher Sawyer (Brooke) of Nitro, WV, Brian Mosteller (Danielle) of Scott Depot, WV, Harley Rothfeld of Boca Raton, FL, Annabeth Murphy of Melbourne, FL, Cody-Leigh Rothfeld of Washington DC, Kenny Gongloff and Eric Gongloff of Bono, AR and five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaylee, Brent, Reid, and Maci, all of WV.
