planned for Saturday May 25, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Beymer Methodist Church, Lake
Howard Dr. Winter Haven, FL. A celebration of life will be held in Wisconsin at a later
date.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents John B. Cupp and Inez Travers Cupp, her
three brothers: Marion, Glennis and John Cupp, and two sisters Grace Walser and
Ardeth Preston all of Wisconsin.
She graduated from Teacherʼs College Richland Center,
Wisconsin and taught in rural Wisconsin country schools.
She worked as a clerk cashier for Reliable Life and Casualty, Madison Wisconsin for 19
years.
She has been a member of Beymer Methodist church since moving to Florida from
Wisconsin in 1981. She was also a member of Wesley Fellowship Sunday School class
and United Methodist womenʼs Frieda Martin Circle. She became the “Sunshine” Chair
around 1986 keeping track of all members, circulating get well and sympathy cards for
class members to sign and send to those in need. She made numerous telephone calls
and visits to members who were experiencing difficult times in their lives. She would
always say “donʼt sweat the small stuff” and would bring a cheery perspective and
compassionate touch to all she knew and helped. She had a dry and witty sense of
humor which came to light in refreshing ways as she talked with people.
Ruth was extremely curious, always trying to learn new things - wanting to see what
would happen next in a world where she experienced the days of horse and buggy to
the high tech era of the twenty first century. Ruth was a talented writer immortalizing the
events of her life with her creative prose and poetry. She led a life of honesty, generosity
and goodness with an unwavering faith in God.
Ruth Jung used the Golden Rule---Do unto others as you would have them do unto
you---as a way of life. We will greatly miss and always remember her shining spirit.
And if her dance card with Angels is not too full she will probably check in on whatʼs
happening next on planet earth.
