

Hephzibah GA---Betty Jane LaFontaine passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. A mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at Westover Memorial Park with the Reverend Mark N. Van Alstine officiating.
Betty was born on July 2, 1934, in Stapleton, Georgia, to the late Roy and Venera Beasley. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Brenda West, brother, Roy Beasley Jr., and her son, Earl J. LaFontaine, Jr.
She loved her family deeply and had a great passion for helping others. Her second love was Stanley Home Products. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 56 years.
Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl J. LaFontaine, Sr.; five sons, Rory (Jill) LaFontaine, Michael (Mona) LaFontaine, Kerry (Karen) LaFontaine, David LaFontaine, and Richard (Kathleen) LaFontaine; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Glenda Soares and Edna Murray; and two brothers, Bill Beasley and Don Beasley.
A special thanks to Karen Hensley, Diane Lee, Sonya Evans, Denetra Green, and Evette Jones, who were wonderful caregivers to Betty for two years.
Pallbearers will be Betty’s beloved grandsons: Robert LaFontaine, Joshua LaFontaine, Wade LaFontaine, Jeremy LaFontaine, Ethan LaFontaine, Chase LaFontaine, Nicholas LaFontaine, and Andrew LaFontaine. Honorary pallbearers are Shane LaFontaine, Jr. and Davey LaFontaine.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 4, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Betty to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th floor, New York, NY 10001.
