Cornelius Edward Redd Jr.

Mr. Cornelius Edward Redd, Jr., 79, of Harlem, GA passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Doctor's Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 2524 Lumpkin Rd, Augusta, GA, 30906 with Rev. Daryl Price and Pastor Rodney Bodiford officiating. Born in Jenkins County, GA, he was the son of the late Cornelius Edward Redd, Sr. and Thelma Bell Redd. He retired from the Navy after 21 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer. Cornelius, supported many charities. He enjoyed reading, working cross word puzzles, joking with friends, and spending time with his family. Cornelius could build and repair anything he set his mind on. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Rapoza Redd. He is survived by his sons, Gary (Anita) Braz, Somerset, MA, Derick Viveros, Westport, MA, brother, William Furman, Harlem, GA, sister, Regenia Redd, Hephzibah, GA, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 1pm until the hour of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
