Mrs. Diane Elizabeth Johnson entered into rest at her home on Friday, March 3, 2017.Mrs. Johnson is a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She retired from the Richmond County Health Department after 36 years. Mrs. Johnson loved her church. She gave and served at Freedom Bible Church of Evans, GA. She often gave donations to United Way, St. Jude and many Police organizations.Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, SGT. James "Steamboat" Johnson; parents, Robert Leonard Steed and Sylvania Steed McLeroy; and step-father, James McLeroy. Survivors include her children, Rob Richards, Jennifer Sterling (Ronnie); foster daughters, Nancy Reynolds (Tony) and Donna Loren; step-daughters, Sharon Herrod (Lee), Tecia German and Beth Johnson; grandchildren, Justin Richards (Dallas), Corey Richards, Haley Richards, Easton Sterling, Nickolas Portwood, Logan Herrod, Paige Herrod, Austin Johnson, Naomi German and Dixie German; great-grandchildren to be born in July, Broxton James and Grayson Steed; sister, Nancy Jones; friend, Lulline Phillips; and beloved nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.The family will receive friends from 4-7pm, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers who will serve Mrs. Johnson are her grandsons, Justin Richards, Corey Richards, Logan Herrod, Austin Johnson, Nickolas Portwood, family friend, Jordan Davis and honorary pallbearer Easton Sterling.
