
Mr. Weigle, a native of Augusta, attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had retired from the Veterans Administration and University Hospital - Health Central. He was a member of American Therapist Association, Irish American Heritage Society, Forest Hills Golf Club and attended Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served with the Logos Youth Program, the Soup Kitchen and visitation to shut-ins.
During his early years, Mr. Weigle made All State and All Region High School Football Teams while at Boys' Catholic High School. During his freshman year at Georgia Tech, John was named as an All American. In his sophomore year in college, he was named All Southeastern Conference and later named All Missouri Valley Conference as well as being mentioned on All American Football Teams. He was a member of the Georgia Tech Letterman's Club and Oklahoma State Letterman's Club. He was also a member of Nagoya/Komaki Air Force Association. While serving in the United States Air Force, Mr. Weigle was selected as Captain for the Far East Air Force All Star Football Team. He was later drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mr. Weigle was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry Weigle, Sr. and Mary Bresnahan Weigle; his brothers, Charles Henry Weigle, Jr., Philip Gregory "Bo" Weigle; sister, Patricia Weigle Kelleher and brother-in-law, Thomas Francis Kelleher.
Mr. Weigle is survived by his wife; two sons, John Harry Weigle and daughter-in-law, Joy Maple Weigle, John Bresnahan Weigle, Jr and daughter-in-law, Charlar Calhoun Weigle; one daughter, Kimberly Weigle Loflin and son-in-law, William Pierce Loflin; two sisters, Miriam W. Siwinski and brother-in-law, Todd Siwinski, Anne Marie W. Fair and brother-in-law, William E. "Bill" Fair; sister-in-law, Joyce Todd Weigle; grandsons, John Harry "Jay" Weigle, Jr., James Robert Loflin, John Bresnahan Weigle, III, and Bennett Alexander Rhoads; and granddaughters, Stephanie Palmer Weigle, Maye-Stevens Calhoun Weigle, Abigail June Rhoads, Sarah Catherine Rhoads and Caroline Joy Rhoads.

Memorial Services will be held 11 AM, Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Mary's on the Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, Georgia with The Rev. Gerald Ragan officiating. Private Inurnment will follow at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive guests at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. William Fair, 1129 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, following the memorial service.
