Theresa was born on February 14, 1950 to Cleveland and Sally (Minus) Hatcher in Jesup, Georgia. She spent most of her childhood back and forth from Savannah, GA and Johnston, SC. She was the 2nd of 9 children. Known as 'Resa' to most, she was a vibrant, funny and brave young woman who was ready to protect her siblings at a moment's notice. She loved spending her summers in Savannah at her grandparents' house and roaming the neighborhood with her cousins.
Resa met her one and only love, Rodney Dale Curtis at the tender age of 14 and later married him on November 5, 1966. To that marriage they added 3 children, Kimberly, Dale and Samuel.
In April of 1978 they packed up and followed their dreams and moved to Alaska, later settling in Tok where they built a log cabin and started a home missions church. Her cabin was always a warm, inviting, stopping point with a touch of southern comfort, for tired traveling ministers and church folks passing through. Everyone looked forward to her homemade southern buttermilk biscuits and chocolate syrup. She was a dedicated and devoted hard working wife and mother, an incredible cook and seamstress. Her house was always spotless and she waited on her husband with love and care that always amazed anyone who knew her. She loved being a grandmother and never missed a chance to spoil her grand babies. Always bragging about them and showing pictures of them to everyone she met. She advertised their names on her sweat shirts like badges of honor, always waiting for an opportunity to show them off. Mom was a courageous woman who survived -70 below winters in Alaska to overcoming breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father, C.L. Hatcher, sister, Donna Hatcher, brother-n-law, Ronnie Curtis and sister-n-law, Teresa Benson.
She leaves behind to miss her for eternity, her beloved husband, Rodney D. Curtis, Sr. of Tok, Alaska, her mother, Sally Kate Hatcher of Aiken, South Carolina, her daughter Kimberly Curtis-Rix and husband James of Houston, Texas, sons, Rodney Dale Curtis, Jr. of Tok, Alaska and Samuel D.
