Mr. Shorter was born to the late Duke and Oma Shorter in Cambridge, Maryland. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired after more than 20 years in the service. He met his loving wife in Vietnam while serving overseas. After serving in the military, he worked as a state correctional officer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He adored his family and always showed support to his wife and family.
Mr. Shorter is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ho Thi Hoa. Survivors include his children, Minh Shorter, Cristina Drynan (Eric) and Rockey Shorter Jr ; daughter-in-law, Brenda Shorter; grandchildren, Alexander Arounleut, Eric Drynan Jr., Connor Drynan, Morgan Shorter, Haleigh-Brooke Shorter and Addison Shorter; and great-grandson, Oliver Rockey Garcia.
A chapel service will be held at 11am at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors.
