Roger L. Rodgers

Mr. Roger Lee Rodgers, 89, of Augusta, GA, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 12, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Augusta First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Joseph Lennon officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert Rodgers, Justin Rodgers, Shane Rodgers, Scott Rodgers, John Wayne Rodgers and Craig Williams Born in Quitman, MS, he was the son of the late Eddie Lee and Vera Fleming Rodgers. Roger graduated from Mohler's School of Cosmetology and Barber. He moved to Augusta in 1952 from Louisiana. He owned Rodger's Barbershop in Augusta for a number of years and retired after 55 years of barbering. He joined Augusta First Church of Nazarene in 1952, where he served on the Board of Trustees including Chairman and Financial Secretary. Roger was a man who was loved and admired by many people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McConnell Rodgers, daughter, Jacqueline Anne Rodgers, and sons William Ray Rodgers, Jerry Lee Rodgers and Edward Wayne Rodgers. He is survived by his son, Richard Lee Rodgers, Augusta, GA; brothers, Dennis (Charlotte) Rodgers , Collinsville, MS; Nelson Rodgers, Lake Charles, LA; Jimmie Rodgers, Augusta, GA; Roy (Marie) Rodgers, Quitman, MS; sister, Carolyn Rodgers (John) Riggs, Florence, MS and 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Care South Hospice Center for the loving care they provided. The family will receive friends at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 6-8:00 pm.
