
Her memory remains with her son, John David Harris and her grandchildren, Kilby B. Harris, Karly Harris Brown (Chris) and Trevor Turner, all of the Augusta area; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Emily, Katelyn and Keegan; dear friends, Wilson and Susan Folk.
She was predeceased by one son, Ronnie Harris and one daughter, Jan Harris Turner.
She loved each and every one of her nieces and nephews and their families. She was the last member of her generation of seven siblings. She was born on November 25, 1927 in Emanuel County, in the family farmhouse at Summit, GA.
Ruth was a member of Hill Baptist Church. She was the greatest of music lovers and sang for all of her life. She was in the choirs for 40 years and in the Sweet Adeline Choir for 20 years. She was also a member of a nationally registered barbershop quartet, competing in seven states.
She was happy in her sewing room and with the many ladies who became wonderful friends and models of her expertise. She remembered childhood spankings for sewing on newspapers on her mom’s Singer, there were never scraps for her and her sister, Tay to use.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, Monday, March 14, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.
A funeral will be held following the visitation at 3:00pm, in the chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral home, conducted by Rick Berry.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be; James R. Clark, Clay Clark, John Clark, Don Rountree, Stan Rountree, Lindsey Rountree, Phil Harris, Jimmy Harris and Rob Hefner.
