She was born on December 16, 1948 in Thomson, Ga, daughter of the late Winell Shoemaker Newsome.
Shirley owned and operated a restaurant in South Augusta for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Greene, Sr of Augusta; children S. Ann Wheeler of Warrenton, Patricia G. Stephens of Carrollton, Robert T. Greene Sr. (Danielle) of Augusta, Tony Halcome (Renee) of Jefferson; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four brothers Tommy Shoemaker (Sue) of Augusta, Barney Harrison of Augusta, Jerry Land of N. Augusta, SC, and Herbert Newsome of Augusta.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Sunday, February 26 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11:00am, Monday, February 27 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta.
