

He went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2016.
Deacon Keene was a devoted family man, who dedicated his life to his family.
He attended public schools in Baltimore, Maryland.
Deacon Keene was drafted into the United States Army, October 28, 1950. Stayed out of service for a brief time, enlisted in 1954 and served on active duty for 27 years before retirement.
Deacon Keene married Elizabeth Singleton Quinn on February 14, 1966 while on active duty in the United States Army. Deacon Keene was a member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church for thirty-five years. During his years at St. Stephen, Deacon Keene was Chairman of Deacon Ministry, member of Senior Choir, Inspirational Choir, Men’s Chorus, Teacher for Usher Board, member of Church and City-Wide and State Brotherhood and he chaired the Leadership School.
Deacon Keene enjoyed these hymns, “He’s So Wonderful”, “If I Could Help Somebody”, “Precious Lord”, “Old Ship of Zion”, and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”.
Deacon Keene at a later date united with Living Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robin S. Holland. Deacon Keene enjoyed reading poems, playing pool, Japanese Bunka, gardening and above all reading scriptures.
Preceding him in death, his loving wife, Elizabeth Singleton Keene, daughter Delia Mevrisse Scott, father Henry Purnell Keene, mother Sarah Mildard Keene.
Deacon Keene leaves to cherish his memory two loving daughters Ernestyne Delores Bedford (I.V.) and Katheryn Yolanda Quinn of Denver, Colorado. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren in Denver, Colorado and Lancaster, California. He is also survived by a multitude of friends.
